A Mental Illness from a Celebrity?
Elizabeth Olsen, famous actor who has played Wanda Vision has acted many years in the Marvel series. She is one of many stars who hss come out with their mental illnesses, from the site Stars Who’ve Spoken Out About Their Struggles with Mental Health (people.com). The actress had come out saying how, at the age of 21, when living in New York, she had never occurred to learn what an anxiety or panic attack was. She had said that she had a panic attack on the hour every hour, and when she had tried to cross the street where she had lived in New York her body and mind refused. She would lean up against a wall and feel like she was about to drop dead. Elizabeth Olsen is a famous actor today and still does suffer from these attacks from time to time, but she has come out to get help and shared it with the world. She has said that she has come across some ways to cope with this, in her terms she calls them “brain games”.
What is a mental or nervous breakdown?
A Mental or Nervous breakdown could be defined as being like a bad tantrum or some sort of hissy fit, but it can also be defined as a bad way of stress relief. Breakdowns could also come near to Anxiety attacks, due to how bad some could be for a person. A breakdown is when a person has too much stress that piles on top of them and everything else, that they will let it out in ways like screaming, crying, not eating, pushing themselves away from others, and more. Ways that a breakdown could occur come from countless things including bad sleep, abuse, anxiety, depression, a major life change, and the list could go on.
What are some Cause’s and Effect’s?
Nervous breakdowns can lead to extremes including death, which is a not very welcoming topic to many. When a person loses someone or something important to them, they can go into a spiral of emotions, and some of these emotions take them off their own path. Some events like having a big project due in a certain time, being alone for a long period of time, losing a loved one or pet, so many things cause people to have breakdowns. Also, when someone has a breakdown, it can show serious problems that had been hiding underneath the stress, including Anxiety and Depression.
What are Signs of a Mental/Nervous Breakdown?
A few signs of a mental breakdown could be if someone is distancing themselves from the people they know and love, eye bags or puffy eyes from crying, paranoia, fearfulness, and more examples. Having a breakdown can be hard, as someone can be in their room locked away crying because of someone they lost or an animal(s) that was important to them. I know others who have had close to experiences with this, but it wasn’t a full breakdown, but a short stress relief. Another sign that could indicate a breakdown could be difficulty breathing. When someone is on the virge of a breakdown or panic attack, they have trouble breathing as they are panicking too much. When someone panics, they could have a panic attack which is when someone is in a whole state of panic for anything including losing something or someone important, not being able to watch something they need to, being away from someone for a long or short period of time, failing a simple or important test, and so on. It all depends on the person themselves.
