In Ukraine many journalists have covered the war. Each and every one of these journalists has covered something similar, but one pair of journalists have taken risks to the max. Masha Froliak and Yoursur Al-Hlou are two video journalists who are in their 20’s and both work for The New York Times. These journalists have been all around Ukraine covering several stories and aspects of being right in the middle of destruction.
On July 5th 2023, these journalists happen to be reporting on the lives of Ukrainian combat medics. While they are reporting on these medics a wounded Russian soldier arrives at the hospital. Masha Froliak and Yoursur Al-Hlou had seen many Russian soldiers who were in Ukrainian captivity but one solider that wasn’t captured happened to show up at the hospital. This was the first time the two journalists got access to report an uncaptured Russian soldier.
These two journalists are incredible at what they do and have done some crazy things like being around the frontline of battle to interview Ukrainian soldiers and record data on the damages caused by the Russians. Everything that these journalists do is amazing, especially all their dedication to ensure that everyone knows the pain and suffering of every combat medic or soldier who has to fight relentlessly to save their country.
