Tracy Hayden is a receptionist for Hayden’s Septic, and her job might look easy, but there is so much that plays into the job and how it has affected her life throughout the years.
For the background information, Paul C. Hayden in 1979 started a plumbing buisness, doing something he was good at, to support his new family that would grow on for years. It started out with one truck, endless hours, and long days, even weekends. A few times he almost went out of buisness, but one thing that kept him going was faith. Paul goes by a frequently used motto that you see on money, but is special and dear to him, “In God we trust.” Yes, used a lot, but that motto has deep meaning for Paul, and faith and family has gotten him through the ups and downs of running the one man show. Paul married Jean, and they had 14 kids together. All 7 boys eventually started working for the buisness, but some switching to a different career path as time continued. Stephen, my dad, had branched off into septic, so today, 44 years later, the buisness is still going strong with additions added on.
In 2003, Tracy decided that she would want to work for the buisness and be a secretary. After being married to Stephen Hayden, son of Paul the owner, and into the family, she saw great pride in seeing your name on fleet trucks on the road and knowing that your family is the one providing that service.
Tracy learned that patience is a huge necessity, but also multitasking. She worked at the office for over 10 years, which was ran out of Paul and Jeans house. Throughout this time Tracy had 4 kids and was balancing getting work done, but also watching the younger ones and making sure their necessities were taken care of.
Through the years, Tracy has believed that is has made her a stronger person in knowing what she is capable of and helping manage her time, but also knowing that you have to place priority in what you want to accomplish that day. The real job as a secretary has many struggles and is hard to manage sometimes. You might have angry costumers, or late bills that need to be paid. Tracy worked in sending invoices, a bill to a costumer, and answering calls, establishing job times, or what the workers schedule would look like that day.
Today, Tracy helps manage “Hayden’s Septic” with her husband Stephen, which is a branch off from plumbing. Tracy continues to work hard and handle everyday situations no matter what happens or where she needs to go, she finds a way to get in done and complete the tasks.
