Zack Snyder is a director well known for his work on movies made from comic book company DC, such as Batman v Superman and a few other films. However, in 2017 his work on Justice League was pushed away and looked at as a joke by superhero fans all over the nation. This year in 2021, Snyder looks to redeem himself by releasing a 4-hour version of Justice League and a remake of original CGI designs called The Snyder Cut. The Snyder Cut consists of famous actors, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg and former musician for the band “30 Seconds to Mars,” Jared Leto, as well as many other amazing actors. The movie was rated at a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes which was a 31% increase from the 2017 original cut. The real question people began to ask about this movie was “how did this became so much more successful?”

The story of Justice League takes place in multiple settings. It is based off the original series created by the Detective Comics Company who gained their fame for producing superhero comic books such as Batman, Superman, Wonder-Woman, Flash, etc. The story takes place where the heroes, Batman, Superman, Wonder-Woman, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman, must battle the villain Steppenwolf in order to get the “Mother Box” to destroy the planet and form it into their own planet.

As the movie’s plot stayed the same, the movies rating changed due to there being a more significant number of scenes and new characters introduced. Consider all time villain, Darkseid, who Snyder says is an important character to the plot of the story and the movie’s success. Snyder states in an interview, “He’s definitely the most important character not constantly shown in the movie,” giving the viewers an idea of how meaningful this new character is, echoed by fans’ reaction when the comic book favorite villain made his on-screen appearance.

Other aspects of this movie’s success are explained by Snyder’s mentioning such things as, “Well, frankly, we thought it was unbelievable. We were pretty sure that someone had made a mistake. But it also meant that we did have to do the work of finishing it. And it’s not a small amount of work,” as he stated to Esquire after they asked him about how exciting it was to finish the project. This gives the idea that Snyder’s rating was so low due to the project being unfinished, and after it was finished the rating increased astronomically.

From where I sit, Snyder’s work is outstanding and popular with movie and comic book fans all around, who look forward to more of his work after such a great movie and possibly another Justice League.
